Progress

A record of habits building, not a balance to chase.

Monty shows what changed week to week — jar movement, goal progress, money in and out — so the habit is visible without turning into a score.

What shows up

  • How each jar changed since the last check-in
  • How close a goal has moved toward its target
  • Money in — allowance, deposits, gifts
  • Money out — what was spent, and from which jar
  • How many Monty O’Clocks a child has completed

Not a game score

A bigger balance isn’t automatically better in Monty. Progress is about a kid consistently showing up to the habit — deciding, waiting, spending, saving, giving — not the raw number in a jar.

What parents see

Parents get a quiet, week-over-week view of what their kid is actually doing with money — without needing to hover or ask.

What kids see

Kids see their own jars fill, their own goals get closer, and their own history of Monty O’Clocks — a visible trail of decisions that were theirs.

Questions parents ask

Does Monty rank or score kids on their balance?

No. Monty deliberately avoids treating a large balance as a win. Progress is framed around consistency and decisions, not accumulated money.

What’s tracked between Monty O’Clocks?

Jar changes, goal movement, money in, and money out are all tracked continuously, then reviewed together at the next session.

Can parents see progress without waiting for Monty O’Clock?

Yes, parents can check in from the family dashboard any time — Monty O’Clock is when the whole family reviews it together.

Does progress include completed Monty O’Clocks?

Yes. How many check-ins a child has done is part of the picture — the habit itself is something Monty tracks, not just the money.

What if a week looks worse than the last?

That’s expected. Some weeks a kid saves more, some weeks they spend more. Progress is meant to show the pattern over time, not judge any single week.
